In person introductory meeting in Potsdam, Germany

Spring seems to be a very busy period for the RETORNA Consortium!

Since March all the PIs and DCs  have been involved not only in their daily lab research and trainings, but also in online and in person meetings…and still other travels are foreseen in these next months!

In person introductory meeting

The in person introductory meeting took place on the 12th of April 2024 at SeeSeminaris hotel in Potsdam.

It was the first time that all Principal Investigators and Doctoral Candidates could meet in person. During the kick off meeting held in March 2023, the Consortium decided to organize the in person introductory meeting within the Proretina event in Potsdam. That decision was really great as we could join 2 events in one!

The projects have always some important meetings, meetings that are more important than others, that leave a mark on the future path that the project may take. The In person introductory meeting in Potsdam was one of those types of meeting!

Participants

The meeting was attended in person by all  PIs and DCs of the RETORNA Consortium.

The event was attended also by Franz Badura, president of ProRetina – our associated partners as well as by David Sánchez – president of Farpe, also associated partner in the project.  Both associated partners assisted the first part of the meeting where all the 10 DCs presented their individual research project. They both encouraged our DCs in their research path and wished them good work on such an important topic!

Agenda

During the morning project meeting the main topics were:

DCs' presentation

  • project presentation by each DC
  • intervention of Franz Badura and David Sánchez
  • DCs’ involvement in the project
  • deliverables and milestones

ProRetina meeting and poster session

After the RETORNA meeting, the Consortium could attend the Proretina sessions held in the main meeting room of the SeeSeminaris in Potsdam.

The hall of the hotel was filled with posters of PhD students and we are really proud to inform you that some of them were belonging to the RETORNA Consortium. DC1, DC3, DC4, DC6 and DC7 presented their posters in this event and did really good in answering questions related to their project.

The informal poster session, accompanied by music and cocktail, was a very pleasant moment to release the tension of the first questions that professor could ask our DCs.

The Proretina meeting continued also on the 13th of April in the morning, the ending session being at 1PM.

We spent 2 wonderful days together, getting to know each other better and creating a common way of working for this main big project that is RETORNA.
