This new 2025 comes with a 1 month secondment for our DC2 Yao Yao.
Where did she traveled to? Well she left Radboudumc laboratory in The Netherlands in order to join prof. Serdar Durdagi’s lab in Istanbul, Turkey. Quite a big change!!!!

Lab experience
I visited Prof. Dr. Serdar DURDAĞI‘s lab for one month, where I focused on learning computational drug design. I acquired thorough knowledge of computer-aided drug design (CADD) as well as handful training in using relevant software, which I could implement additionally in my project
It was fascinating to learn advanced computational drug design and to bridge practical experiment with computational simulation. Huge thanks to Ioannis Papazoglou (DC 5) and the team for the warm welcome and sharing their expertise!
Life in Istanbul
Istanbul is a vibrant city where East meets West in a unique blend of history, culture, and modern life. I didn’t missed the chance to explore this city. I visited several historical places and experienced the modern vibe along with Ioannis, which was an amazing and unforgettable journey.
Looking back to this secondment, I feel grateful to have this opportunity to learn deeply from another topic and exchange ideas, which helps me think and improve my project. Beyond the learning, it was a great experience to know different cultures. I really enjoyed my stay in the lab and in Istanbul. Also, look forward to apply what I’ve gain to my project!
